INDIAN ELECTRONICA

PURPOSE

Again this project too was a combination of two of my most favorite things in graphic design that being custom lettering and typography, this time I’ve tried to approach it using music as a primary base to come up with custom lettering reflecting music composed by a very talented set of electronic musicians from India. In the last year I have found myself constantly listening to electronic music, and most of the artists happened to be from my country. So I decided to create a set of posters as a fun little personal project featuring some of my favorite electronic artists from India.

APPROACH

The concept of the whole project was to reflect the music in- terms of lettering and typography. I did a bit of background research and went through some of the previous posters and the creatives that were created for the respective artists, which helped me to come up with patterns and color palettes for the same. Later I did some research on the artworks were being designed for a specific genre of music. Since I was new to electronic music, it helped me to get a better understanding of how to approach and visualize a different genre of music and design.

WRAP

By the end of the project, I was able to come up with designs that were minimalistic yet they spoke a lot about the music and were easy to connect to the audience, and very much relatable. Also, the process was rapid and fast, I got things done a lot faster. Also during the research, I came across a lot of other musicians and designers' works, which were thought-provoking, which in turn exposed me to a lot of other things. I will continue to explore electronic music and possibly come up with the next set of posters in my next series.
